Beauty water is simple to use: open the bottle, drink it, enjoy it. But there is a difference between drinking it and getting the most out of it. The clinical research behind our hero ingredient measured results over 84 days, and the people who saw the biggest change were the ones who made it part of a routine. This guide covers how to drink your skincare so it actually pays off: when to drink it, why consistency matters, what to pair it with, and what you should notice at day 28 and day 84.
The short version
Make it a ritual. Attach it to something you already do, give it 84 days, and keep the basics in place: sunscreen, your topical routine, enough sleep and plain water. Take a photo on day 1 so you have something to compare against. That is most of it. The rest of this post explains why.
When to drink beauty water
There is no clinical winner for time of day. In the Dracobelle NU trial, participants took the extract once daily and the timing was not the variable; consistency was. So pick the time you are least likely to skip.
For most people that is the morning. A 16 oz bottle of Pick Me Up replaces the second coffee or the flavored water you would reach for anyway, and it pairs naturally with the rest of a morning skin routine. Our post on morning habits for glowing skin builds a whole routine around it.
If you are not a morning person, an afternoon bottle works just as well. The one time we would not recommend is right before bed, only because 16 oz of anything before sleep means a trip to the bathroom at 2 a.m.
With food or without? Either. The actives in beauty water (a plant extract, hyaluronic acid, liposomal glutathione, resveratrol, and vitamin C) do not need fat or a full meal to absorb. Drink it however you like it, chilled is best.
Why consistency matters
This is the part people underestimate. Your skin renews on a roughly 28-day cycle, and changes in the deeper layers, where collagen and most of the skin's water live, take longer than that. An ingredient that signals your skin to build more of its own collagen needs to keep sending that signal over weeks before there is enough new structure to measure.
That is what the research shows. In the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of Dracobelle NU (101 women, 84 days), skin hydration was measurably better at day 28, and the full 71% improvement showed at day 84. The study ran on a regular daily routine, which is why we designed each bottle to be an easy one. We walk through the whole trial in what the Dracobelle NU clinical study found.
The other reason consistency matters: ingestible beauty is a habit, not a course of treatment. Think of it the way you think of sunscreen or a good moisturizer. It works while it is part of your routine.
A few ways to make the ritual stick:
Anchor it to something you already do. Coffee, your morning skincare, your commute. A habit attached to an existing habit sticks.
Keep it where you will see it. Front of the fridge, eye level. Out of sight is out of routine.
Keep the fridge stocked. Running out is how most people quietly stop. A 6-pack from the collection or a subscription means there is always one waiting.
Take a day 1 photo. Same light, same spot, no makeup. Changes in hydration and smoothness are gradual enough that you will not notice them in the mirror day to day, and a day 1 photo next to a day 84 photo is the best motivator there is.
What to pair it with
Beauty water works from the inside. Everything below works on the outside or supports the same goal, and none of it competes.
Sunscreen, every day. UV light is the single biggest driver of collagen breakdown. Building collagen from within while letting the sun degrade it is like filling a bucket with a hole in it. Daily broad-spectrum SPF is the highest-return habit in skincare, full stop.
Your topical routine. Keep it. A topical hyaluronic acid serum holds water at the surface while oral hyaluronic acid supports hydration in the deeper layers; they do different jobs. Retinoids, vitamin C serums, and moisturizers are all compatible. Our guide to hyaluronic acid drinks explains the inside-outside difference.
Plain water. Beauty water is not a substitute for hydration in general. The hyaluronic acid in it works by holding onto water your body already has, so drinking enough throughout the day gives it more to work with.
Sleep. Skin repair and collagen production peak overnight. Seven or more hours is not optional if you want to see the full effect of anything you take.
Protein and produce. Collagen is built from amino acids, and vitamin C is a required cofactor in that process (the NIH fact sheet on vitamin C covers the mechanism). Each bottle of Pick Me Up delivers 100% of your daily vitamin C, but the amino acids come from what you eat. A diet with adequate protein gives your skin the raw materials to build with.
Less sugar overall. Sugar drives glycation, which stiffens collagen. Pick Me Up keeps it to 5 g of sugar and 25 calories per bottle for exactly this reason, and cutting sugary drinks elsewhere in your day helps the same cause.
What not to worry about: coffee, tea, and alcohol do not cancel out beauty water. Moderation still applies, but you do not need to change your coffee order.
What to expect, and when
Set expectations by the research, not by the before-and-after photos you see online.
Days 1 to 14
Mostly nothing visible yet. You will get the immediate effects of a light, hydrating drink (some people say their skin feels less tight by the end of the day), but structural changes have not had time to happen. This is the stretch where people give up on anything new. Give it time.
Day 28
The first measurable point in the trial. Skin hydration was already improved at day 28 compared with placebo. In real life this tends to show up as skin that feels softer and looks a little more even, and makeup that sits better. Take your second photo here.
Day 56
Improvement continued to build through the midpoint of the study. Fine lines around the eyes and mouth often look softer at this stage, mostly because plumper, better-hydrated skin reflects light more evenly.
Day 84
The full result: a 71% increase in skin hydration from baseline, plus improvements in dermal thickness and smoothness (12.4% smoother). This is the day to compare against your day 1 photo. It is also a good day to keep the ritual going, because skin keeps responding for as long as you keep showing up.
One honest note: the trial studied the ingredient at its clinical dose, and every bottle of Pick Me Up contains that dose. But individual results vary with age, sun exposure, diet, and skin type. Someone starting with very dry skin usually sees a bigger change than someone whose skin was already well hydrated.
Common mistakes
Judging it at week two. Nothing that changes skin structure works in two weeks. Give it the 84 days the study gave it.
Dropping sunscreen because you are "doing skincare from within." Please don't. They are a team.
Letting it get warm and forgetting about it. Beauty water is best cold, and a cold bottle at eye level in the fridge gets drunk. A warm one in the pantry does not.
Doubling up to speed things up. Two bottles at once will not get you to day 84 faster. The studied dose is one bottle, and skin builds on its own schedule.
Where Pick Me Up fits
Pick Me Up Beauty Water was built to make the ritual easy. Each 16 oz glass bottle delivers Dracobelle NU at its clinically studied dose, plus hyaluronic acid, liposomal glutathione, resveratrol, and 100% of your daily vitamin C, at just 25 calories per bottle, in three flavors you will actually look forward to: Mango Turmeric, Watermelon Cucumber, and Dragon Fruit Rose. See every ingredient on What's Inside, read the evidence on the Science page, or shop the collection. Results you can see by day 28 and feel by day 84.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best time of day to drink beauty water?
Whenever you will remember it. Morning works for most people because it slots into an existing routine, but the research shows consistency matters, not timing.
Can I drink beauty water every day?
Yes. It is designed as a daily drink, and the clinical results came from a daily routine, but it fits however often you reach for it. One bottle is the studied dose.
How long does beauty water take to work?
In the clinical trial of our hero ingredient, skin hydration was measurably improved at day 28 and reached a 71% improvement at day 84 of daily use.
Should I drink beauty water on an empty stomach?
It does not matter. The actives absorb with or without food, so drink it whenever suits you.
Can I drink beauty water with coffee?
Yes. Coffee does not interfere with beauty water. Many people drink one right after the other.
What happens if I stop?
The benefits gradually fade, because your skin is no longer receiving the signal to build and hold hydration. Think of it as an ongoing ritual rather than a one-time course.
